2020 GMC Terrain vs. 2020 Chevrolet Equinox

2020 Chevrolet Equinox vs 2020 GMC Terrain

So the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox, or the 2020 GMC Terrain? That's the question.

If you've been in the market for a compact SUV you have likely came across the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox, and the 2020 GMC Terrain at some stage of your research. Today, we're going to do a comparison for you, on the differences between the two Compact Sports Utility Vehicles.

Incentives:

The two SUVs usually go hand-in-hand in terms of incentives every month from GM Canada. This April, you can currently finance both the 2020 Equinox and the 2020 Terrain for as low as 0% over 72 months, with $1750 off your purchase when you finance.

In terms of leasing, the two are usually right on par in that category as well. In April you can take advantage of lease rates from 1% APR up to 60 months on both models.

Starting MSRP:

Let's face it, price is a big deciding factor in which model to choose. Although both the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox and the 2020 GMC Terrain are competitively priced within the industry, and offer the same incentives, they do vary in price.

In Ontario the starting MSRP on a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox LS (lowest trim level) is $29,498, while the starting MSRP on a 2020 GMC Terrain SLE (lowest trim level) is $33,498. Finally, for the higher-end trim levels (Premier & Denali), Chevrolet's Equinox Premier has a much lower starting MSRP of $38,928 compared to the GMC Terrain Denali's $42,798.

Fuel Efficiency:

One important factor to consider when choosing between models is fuel efficiency. GM Canada likes to document model's fuel efficiency using it's estimated City & Highway Litres used per 100KM (L/100KM).

When comparing the two SUVs' L/100KM you'll notice that they are almost identical. The 2020 Chevrolet Equinox is estimated at 8.9 L/100KM (city) and 7.7 L/100KM (highway). While the 2020 GMC Terrain is estimate at 9.2 L/100KM (city) and 7.8 L/100KM (highway).

Trims & Options:

Both the Equinox and Terrain have three trim levels available to choose from. The Equinox offers the LS, LT, and Premier trim levels while the Terrain offers the SLE, SLT, and Denali trim levels.
